Day Six – Big Eyes = Big Belly
A daily blog is like a trip to the confessional. The blogger, myself, confesses the wonders and sins of the day asking for absolution, forgiveness or advice. So here is what I did last night. I met my family at Sweet Tomatoes, a fantastic salad bar. Can’t go wrong eating a healthy salad or could you? I’m still at the evil temptation phase of this journey with little self control other than writing good ideas for you and me, so I filled my plate with all healthy things. A full plate is not portion control and if the goal is to reach a slimmer me than a full plate was a plate too full. But, this restaurant also has an array of fantastic calorie with no conscious soups, pasta, delicious pastry and ice cream. Now, a big eye has a larger view of its surroundings. Healthy salad deserves a healthy desert and the sordid story goes on. So, I guess with all my self-control, portion consciousness and motivational writings of the last few days, I caught up on all the calories in one meal. Granted, it could have been worse but I guess, I was not ready to be as serious as I need to be.
But, as promised in my introduction to this journey, I want losing weight to be less incriminating and more a learning process to control and manage once the pounds start to ease off. I promised myself that these next few weeks of daily posting is part of the journey, one without self pity or demeaning myself for getting out of control and only strengthen the weakness of the days before. My confession today will bear witness of my being more careful tomorrow.
Friends, we are who we are and we must remember that we are a vessel. Our pipes and organs within need nourishment and less physical stress. We are a composite of the whole with each component requiring total cooperation of the others. No need to aggravate it by added weight, poor nourishment and lousy habits.
